ASLTON is as old as the creation of Laboratory regulatory body in Nigeria which was formed since 1971 but started operating with the name “Nigerian Institute of Science Technology (NIST) members”.

However, in accordance with National Assembly ACT No. 12 of 2003 establishing the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology and formation of the Governing Council, the third arm of the profession ASLTON was approved and duly registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) which was then charged with the responsibilities of handling professional members’ welfare.

ASLTON afterwards took charge of the responsibility of handling and managing the professional licensed NISLT members’ welfare, labour matters and other licences affecting her registered members in every sector of the economy – both Private and Public, creating Diaspora linkages, collaboration and specialized interactive professional scientific sessions.
